At 2:54 p.m., Educarray McGhie, 18, a 15-year-old, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old knocked the victim to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stomped on his body and head, Bayonne police said.

A bystander came to the victim's aid, shielding him with her body, stopping the attack, police said. That bystander was identified as Cathy Hurley, a teacher, by NJ Advance Media. The outlet also shared a screenshot of a video that captured the incident.

The victim was rendered unconscious and sustained moderate injuries, police said.

The victim was treated and released from medical care, police said. The five teenagers were charged with aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim and rioting, police said.

McGhie was transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility after processing, while the juveniles were remanded to multiple youth correctional facilities within the state, police said.
